The Mission
Own guidance, navigation, and control for the shepherd: rendezvous trajectory design, proximity operations control loops, and the safety logic that lets a reusable vehicle approach a tumbling object it has never seen and survive being wrong.
What You’ll Own
Design rendezvous and proximity-operations GNC for approach, station-keeping, net-firing geometry, and abort
Define sensor fusion architecture with the perception team (camera, LiDAR, star tracker inputs to relative navigation)
Build and validate the 6-DoF simulation environment for closed-loop capture rehearsal
Set passively-safe trajectory and abort criteria with our mission assurance lead
Represent GNC in investor and agency technical diligence
What We Need
5+ years GNC/AOCS on flown spacecraft or advanced RPO programs
Deep grounding in relative orbital mechanics (CW/HCW dynamics, safety ellipses)
Hands-on 6-DoF simulation experience (Basilisk, Orekit, GMAT, or equivalent)
Comfort owning a domain alone at a pre-seed company
Nice to Have
Prior work on debris removal, servicing, or docking (Astroscale, Starfish, D-Orbit, agency RPO)
Optimal control or trajectory optimization background
